Q
What are the rates for drywall contractors?
A

The cost of hiring a drywall contractor varies depending on the specifics of each project. Factors such as the scope of work and any unique challenges involved will influence the pricing. For the most accurate quote, it’s recommended to provide detailed drawings or arrange for an on-site visit.

Q
What is the price of installing spray foam insulation?
AThe expense of spray foam insulation installation hinges on your project’s particulars and the type of spray foam you opt for—either 2lb closed-cell or ½ lb open-cell spray foam. Costs vary according to the thickness of the application needed. For instance, each inch of 2lb closed-cell spray foam insulation yields an R-value of 6. So, to attain an R-value of 31, approximately 5 inches of 2lb closed-cell spray foam would be sprayed.
Q
Should I opt for repairing my damaged drywall or pursue a complete replacement?
AWhether to repair or replace damaged drywall depends on the extent of the damage. Minor issues like small cracks or nail pops can be quickly and easily repaired. However, for larger holes or severe problems such as extensive mold infestation, where spores may have spread throughout the drywall, replacement is often the most suitable option. It’s essential to address the source of the mold to prevent further damage to the drywall.
Q
What about clean-up?
AYou won’t have to fret about it—we handle everything. Our team will tidy up the site by removing any unused materials and debris. Additionally, we ensure thorough cleaning by vacuuming up excess drywall dust and appropriately disposing of all waste.
Q
Is there anything I can do to prevent future drywall damage?
AThe best way to reduce the chance of drywall damage in your home is to be very careful when moving large items around. Cover any corners with a blanket and take your time moving around corners and through narrow hallways. If you do see something small, fix it quickly before it has a chance to turn into more serious damage. This includes fixing leaks, ceiling cracks, and addressing pest infestations.
Q
what’s the difference between typeX and C drywall?
AWhat sets Type X and Type C drywall apart is their intended use in enhancing safety and mitigating the spread of fire. Type X drywall, measuring 5/8 inches thick, incorporates gypsum with noncombustible glass fibers, resulting in a fire rating of at least one hour. On the other hand, Type C drywall, available in both 1/2″ and 5/8″ thicknesses, is an enhanced version of Type X. It contains a higher concentration of glass fibers along with additional vermiculite components. These added elements make Type C drywall more fire-resistant, effectively slowing down the spread of fire by 2-4 hours.
Q
Why does drywall crack?
A

Drywall can crack due to various reasons, including:

  1. Normal settling over time
  2. Installation in a new home
  3. Being left vacant for extended periods
  4. Poor quality taping or drywall installation
  5. Water leaks
  6. Damage to the foundation
Q
Is gypsum the same as drywall?
A

While both gypsum and drywall serve similar purposes, they are distinct in several ways. Gypsum is a natural mineral utilized in construction, whereas drywall is a manufactured product, with gypsum being one of its primary components. Gypsum possesses unique properties such as heat resistance and durability. Drywall, on the other hand, is prized for its excellent soundproofing capabilities, ease of installation and repair, and overall durability.
